Youth athletes have a special ear for their parents’ voices. Realize this during games, and make sure what they hear from you is not conflicting with coaches’ instructions and intentions. Be Positive!

Hello baseball families,

 

The OLMC Mulch and Landscape committee is in desperate need of your help !   Next, Saturday, May 12th is Our Lady of Mt. Carmel’s beautifying of the campus. This is a great opportunity to roll up your sleeves and truly see the results of your labor. This is a wonderful way to get your children involved in community service.  So, if your available either before or after your baseball games Saturday, just show up with a shovel/pitch fork anytime between 8 am – ??? Dealing with Defeat Tools and Advice from Responsible Sports
A long winning streak broken. A buzzer-beating loss in a critical tournament. A difficult defeat in the state championship title game. An unexpected loss to an up-and-coming competitor. The other side of the Cinderella stories are the teams who suffer heartbreaking defeats. Muhammad Ali once said, “I never thought of losing, but now that it’s happened, the only thing is to do it right. That’s my obligation to all the people who believe in me. We all have to take defeats in life.” As Responsible Sport Parents and Responsible Coaches, we know that losing is part of the game and certainly one of the greatest life lesson tools of the youth sports experience. Our role is to help our kids see those life lessons in the face of the defeat. And so this month, we turn to the experts at Positive Coaching Alliance and ask, What steps can we take to help kids manage defeat?
